Support of people with Huntingtons Disease cannot be limited / restricted entirely to the sufferer and HMT extends its support to families of the people within its residential care provision as a matter of course.

Following discussions with the Huntington's Disease Association (HDA), this support can be extended to include local families caring for their relatives living at home. Regular meetings are held in Herne Bay for carers, either during daytime or evening. Telephone support and advice is also available.

For many families caring for the sufferer, living at home is what is wanted, but on many occasions help is needed to do this.

Care packages for outreach are designed in conjunction with Social Services and delivered by staff with experience of working with people with Huntington's disease.
